The Ted star will also produce the adaptation, alongside his frequent collaborator Stephen Levinson, whom he worked with on TV series Entourage, film The Gambler and the upcoming Patriots Day, about the Boston Marathon bombing. The film is being made by Paramount, but a writer and director are yet to be announced, The Tracking Board reports.

Bethlehem, which was originally released in 2013, tells the story of the complicated relationship between an Israeli Secret Service officer and his teenage Palestinian informant that grows even more morally conflicted, when the young man learns his employers are plotting to assassinate his radical brother. Cutting between conflicting points of view, the film portrays characters torn apart by conflicting loyalties.

Yuval directed the original film, and co-wrote the script with Ali Wakad over a period spanning from 2007 to 2010. Gaining critical acclaim, the film was screened at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Fedeora Award for Best Film.

It was also selected as the Israeli entry for the Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, after winning six Ophir Awards (Israeli Oscars) including Best Screenplay, but was not nominated.

Yuval has since gone on to break into the mainstream market, directing supernatural horror for STX Entertainment and The Last of the Tribe, which is set in the Amazon.

Mark, 45, is no stranger to acting in Hollywood versions of foreign films, having starred in Martin Scorsese’s The Departed, a 2002 remake of the Hong Kong crime-thriller Infernal Affairs.
