12.15.2015 — Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell guess fans’ top 5 football movies:

Almost one year ago, actor Mark Wahlberg was pretty sure that he would return for a Transformers 5, and though some progress has been made on the next entry in the franchise, Wahlberg hasn’t spoken about returning again, until now. In an interview with CinePop, Wahlberg confirmed once again that he’ll be back for the film.

In the fourth film, “Age of Extinction,” Wahlberg played Cade Yeager, a Texas inventor and mechanic who was also very protective of his daughter, Nicola Peltz’s Tessa Yeager. Transformers: Age of Extinction grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office, bringing all four films combined to a total gross over $3.7 billion.

Transformers 5 is set to be written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). Director Michael Bay hasn’t not been officially confirmed to return, though Bay remains in contention to return to the helm of the franchise.

In addition, Ant-Man scribes Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will script an animated “origin story” film that will be set on the Transformers’ homeworld of Cybertron. Both films came from the newly formed “Transformers writers room,” which includes the likes of “The Walking Dead” and “Invincible” creator Robert Kirkman, “Fringe” and “Lost” scribe Jeff Pinkner, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Incredible Hulk‘s Zak Penn, “Black List” scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworetrepeat, and “Marvel’s Daredevil” season one showrunner Steven DeKnight.  []

Celebrities and CIBC unite for a day of fundraising to make 365 days of miracles happen

TORONTO, NEW YORK, LONDON, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ – Actor and youth mentor Mark Wahlberg joined CIBC (CM: TSX) (CM: NYSE) today taking to Twitter to announce that on its 31st anniversary, CIBC Miracle Day raised $6 million in support of children’s charities around the globe. On the first Wednesday of every December, CIBC traders and advisors donate their trading fees and commissions to make miracles happen for kids-in-need.

Events were held on CIBC trading floors and offices in Toronto, New York, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, London and Hong Kong. From Rachel McAdams to Michael Irvin, John Salley and John Starks, celebrities and sports stars alike joined traders to make client calls, participate in cheque donations and most importantly meet with kids, taking the time to brighten their day.

“The $6 million raised this year will go a very long way in improving the lives of children in our communities,” says Harry Culham, Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head Capital Markets, and Chair of the CIBC Children’s Foundation. “It is the tremendous dedication and generosity of our clients, employees and celebrities in supporting hundreds of charities that helps kids rise above and reach their full potential.”

“What started over 30 years ago with a handful of CIBC Wood Gundy advisors sharing a vision that every child should experience the joy of the holiday season has grown into a tradition and legacy we are all very proud of,” says Steve Geist, Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head, Wealth Management. “Since 1984, CIBC Miracle Day has raised nearly $234 million to help transform the lives of kids who need it most in communities across the globe and this year in Canada alone more than 550 charities will benefit.”

Mark Wahlberg, along with CBS Films, purchased the rights for Boston Strong, a novel about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, from 20th Century Fox with plans to release a film about the events.

News surfaced earlier this year that Wahlberg was producing a Boston marathon bombings film, entitled ‘Patriots’ Day.’ The two stories, both now owned by CBS Films, will be combined into a single film.

Wahlberg is expected to play Boston police Detective Danny Keeler in the movie.

Two films, a play, and an HBO documentary are currently in the works, causing mixed reactions.

“The Richards would prefer that no movies be made about the bombings at the Boston Marathon,” said Nancy Sterling to The Associated Press. Sterling is a spokeswoman for the family of eight-year-old Martin Richard. He was the youngest of the three people killed in the attack.

Others see the film as portraying a moment in history.

“I know a lot of people were disturbed by that, but I don’t have a problem with it,” said Karen Brassard, whose husband and daughter also were hurt in the bombings. “It’s a part of history.”

A release date for the Wahlberg-starring film has not yet been announced. The HBO documentary, entitled ‘Finish Line,’ is expected to be released on April 1, 2016.

Ahead of the release of their very funny-looking new comedy, Daddy’s Home, Hollywood superstars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have announced that they’re coming to Dublin for the film’s Irish Premiere on Monday 7 December.

This isn’t just another press release or a bog-standard generic announcement though, because Will and Mark (yeah, we’re going for first-name terms here) have actually recorded this personal message for their Irish fans.

Daddy’s Home will be released in Irish cinemas on 26 December, just in time for you to hide the last of the Brussels sprouts dutifully eat the last of the Brussels sprouts, thank your Aunty Bina for the new socks, and head down to your local cinema for this very funny festive film. Looks like we’ve got ourselves a good old-fashioned Dad-off.

Ahead of its release next month, Paramount Pictures has debuted a new poster and two TV spots for Sean Anders and John Morris’ upcoming comedy Daddy’s Home starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

Daddy’s Home follows a mild-mannered radio executive (Will Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Mark Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

Daddy’s Home is set for release December 25th in the States and December 26th in the UK, with a cast that also includes Linda Cardellini and Thomas Haden Church.  []

A fundraiser gala in support of the IDF raised more than $31 million on Friday night in a star-studded event in Los Angeles, California.

More than 1,200 supporters of the Israeli military attended the sold-out Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) charitable event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The FIDF Western Region Gala ushered in various A-listers, including Mark Wahlberg, Liev Schreiber, Antonio Banderas, Jason Segel, Jason Alexander and Israeli-born KISS frontman Gene Simmons. A musical performance by the Beach Boys rocked the night’s event.

“For the past nine years I have watched this gala grow into the preeminent charity event it is today, and I am truly humbled by the funds raised yesterday, which are a testament to the importance of the FIDF organization and its mission. The overwhelming support from the Los Angeles community continues to amaze me,” said Israeli-American media mogul Haim Saban, who served as the gala’s chairman.

Friday’s program placed special recognition on the IDF’s Lone Soldiers, who have left their countries of origin to serve and have families that reside outside Israel.

Bereaved mothers of fallen IDF soldiers also addressed the crowd, as did a US veteran who gave a presentation on the benefits of Israeli medical technology used in America.  []

“She’s like the female Terminator,” says Arnie as he once again reminds us that he was in a great film in the 1980s.
The hype machine for UFC 193 is really ramping up.

On November 14, Ronda Rousey is expected to headline the most attended UFC event of all time when she takes on Holly Holm at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium.

Every single stop has been pulled out in the first Embedded episode. Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger all feature as Rousey’s remarkable rise to the top of her sport is celebrated.

“She has transcended her sport,” declares Wahlberg.

As for Holly Holm, Oscar de la Hoya is in her corner.

When it comes to trick-or-treating on Halloween, Mark Wahlberg was more of a trickster while growing up in Boston.

During a phone interview with the Dan Patrick Show on Friday morning, the actor admitted to stealing candy from kids on the ghoulish holiday, in addition to bragging about his Patriots’ latest win.

The Hollywood star said he used to wear an impromptu ninja mask made out of a T-shirt as he robbed the unsuspecting children.

“You go and you snatch everybody’s bags and hope you don’t get hit with too many eggs,” Wahlberg said.

The Dorchester native told Patrick that he was never arrested on Halloween, although he did cause quite a bit of mayhem on the holiday as a youth.

Wahlberg recalled buying—as well as stealing—eggs which he would then let rot before tossing them at people around the neighborhood.

“We’d either steal eggs or buy eggs two weeks in advance and leave them outside to rot so they could be as nasty as possible,” Wahlberg said.”You’d freeze a couple and you’d just go to war with rival neighborhood kids.”

Check out Wahlberg’s full interview in the clip below.  []
