Dimension Films has dated “The Six Billion Dollar Man” starring Mark Wahlberg for Dec 22, 2017.

“Wild Tales” helmer Damián Szifron wrote the screenplay and is going to direct.

Production is set to start September 2016. Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Bob Weinstein are producing the film.

“The Six Million Dollar Man” is based on the classic television series from the 1970s and the novel “Cyborg” by Martin Caidin. The story follows military officer Steve Austin, who becomes part of a top secret government program after a horrific accident leaves him near death. With the help of cutting edge technology, Steve is brought back to life with extraordinary abilities, making him the world’s first truly bionic man.

“I’m thrilled to assemble ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’ for the big screen with the likes of Bob Weinstein and Damián Szifron,” said Wahlberg. “We look forward to creating a Steve Austin for the 21st century.”

Overseeing production for TWC-Dimension are Matthew Signer, EVP of Production and Creative Affairs, and Keith Levine, SVP of Production and Development.

“Writing the screenplay was such a fantastic ride and embarking on this journey with Mark, Bob and Stephen to take this story to a whole new level is simply spectacular,” said Szifron. “Growing up, these kind of films left an indelible mark on me and now it feels so good to be making one.”

It’s Will Ferrell versus Mark Wahlberg again, but this time, they’re dueling dads.

In Daddy’s Home, Ferrell plays Brad, the milquetoast stepfather to a pair of cute kids whose cool biological father Dusty (Wahlberg) brings candy and rides a motorcycle and sports a set of abs. Naturally, Brad tries to one-up Dusty’s masculinity, resulting in shenanigans like a disastrous Lakers game, a motorcycle mishap, and a thinly veiled argument in front of the children over whose sword is, um, longer. As Dusty puts it, it’s “an old-fashioned dad-off.”

Daddy’s Home hits theaters Christmas Day. Watch the latest trailer below:

He’s known for playing action heroes and tough guys on the big screen but Mark Wahlberg isn’t shy about showing off his macho tendencies on the small screen either.

The actor, 44, happily accepted a challenge from Ellen DeGeneres to show what he’s made of during an appearance her daytime talk show to be broadcast Thursday.

He pulled off 22 pull-ups in 30 seconds, thanks to his bulging biceps, and by doing so he raised $20,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Dressed in black sweatpants and a shirt-sleeved t-shirt, the Lone Survivor star unveiled some impressive muscles as he took to the gym equipment at Ellen’s urging.

The TV host looked impressed as she watched him pull off the chin-ups in quick succession.

He’s the latest celebrity to undertake a challenge on the show as a way of raising donations for breast cancer charities.

Wahlberg also had a big confession to make to the comedienne who is hosting another of her popular Cat Weeks on her show.

The Boston native admitted that he is, in fact, allergic to cats.

The two also chatted about the secret to his happy six-year marriage to model wife Rhea Durham with whom he has four children.

He told Ellen that he likes to dress up as a handyman and fix things around the house as a way of keeping her interested.  [dailymail.co.uk]

When Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg last teamed up, for Adam McKay riotous cop comedy The Other Guys, the result was a genuinely hilarious film that shone a spotlight on the blossoming screen chemistry between the acting duo. Fast forward five years and we arrive at the pair’s next collaboration, Daddy’s Home; a family romp that has the two at odds with one another.

Playing the mild-mannered good guy is Ferrell, who tries to assimilate into a new family life with Linda Cardellini’s doting mother and her two children. But a step-father faces an uphill battle from the get-go when it comes to winning over young kids, and Ferrell’s job suddenly gets a whole lot worse when Mark Wahlberg’s father brings swagger and gifts back into his children’s lives – like Santa, with abs. What follows is an over-the-top war over affection, with the two leads continually one-upping each other, whether it’s building a treehouse or digging deep to perform their best bedtime stories.

Going off the most recent trailer for Daddy’s Home, it’s difficult to muster any form of excitement for the comedy. If the comic interplay between The Other Guys helped sell McKay’s film five years ago, the same can’t really be said for the pair’s new joint venture. Beyond physical humor, many of the jokes don’t really stick and though we hope we’re wrong, there are plenty of other films vying for your attention during this year’s crowded festive corridor.

Daddy’s Home will open on December 26. Sean Anders and John Morris are behind the lens.

The buddy comedy done right is hard to top. And we’ve seen both Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg nail “buddy comedy” time and again. But when these two are paired together – as we saw back in 2010 with “The Other Guys,” – it’s a match made in hell, with gullibly sweet Ferrell pushed to the brink by freewheeling badass Wahlberg.

In what looks to be the comedy event of the holiday season, Ferrell and Wahlberg are paired up again for Daddy’s Home , and we’re lucky enough to have a look at the exclusive new poster.

Ferrell nailed his turn as an immature man-child in “Stepbrothers,” and now he takes a stab at loveably pathetic stepdad, with a notably “cooler” Mark Wahlberg returning home as biological dad. What ensues is all-out warfare for child affection – and puppies, ponies, and straight up cash money are fair play.

Mark Wahlberg Is Set To Return To The Transformers Film Franchise For At Least One More Movie As Studio Bosses Plan The Next Four Instalments In The Blockbuster Series.

The Lone Survivor star took over from Shia LaBeouf as the leading man in the robot action films for 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Although it was panned by critics, the fourth film hit gold at the global box office, grossing $1.1 billion by the end of 2014 to become the biggest movie of the year (14).

Now Hasbro Studios president Steven Davis has confirmed fans can look forward to at least four more sequels.

“We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise,” he told attendees at entertainment convention Mipcom in Cannes, France. “Stay tuned – Transformers 5 is on its way. And six and seven and eight.”

Wahlberg is slated to reprise his role as Cade Yeager for the as-yet-untitled Transformers 5, while filmmaker Michael Bay, who took charge of the original 2007 release, will continue to serve as executive producer.

Oscar-winning A Beautiful Mind screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 scribe Jeff Pinkner are penning the script for the next Transformers sequel, which is expected to hit movie theatres in 2017.

A director has yet to be announced.

Before the new Wahlburgers in Fenway officially opens its doors, the burger joint rolled out the red carpet for an invite-only, grand opening party on Thursday night.

Friends and family members joined owners Mark, Donnie, and Paul Wahlberg for the festivities, as eager fans snapped photos from behind a velvet rope.

Between an Emmy nominated reality series and new locations popping up in Boston and abroad, it’s clear that the Dorchester brothers are building something big with the Wahlburgers brand.

Nothing would make them happier than to see their joint venture turn into something that provides for their family generation after generation. However, they aren’t ready to get lost in dreams of dynasty building just yet, and are staying focused on keeping up the momentum at their various New England locations.

“It would be amazing to build a business that would last for generations, but most importantly, it’s important for us to start it right here in our own backyard,” Mark said. “Whether it be here in Fenway, in Hingham, in Lynnfield, coming up in Dorchester very soon, we want to start really in and around the New England area. We’ve got a lot of other businesses and franchisees out across the country and across different parts of the world, but our main focus right now is in New England.”

For Paul, the mastermind chef behind Wahlburgers, he is solely occupied with creating quality meals each and every time. There’s simply no room for talk of the future.

There was entertainment, there was testimony about the struggles of family, but the man who has taken Philadelphia by storm was on hand for the Festival of Families on the Parkway Saturday night. Pope Francis was the crowd pleaser as he arrived to the Parkway aboard the Popemobile, as the crowd snapped photos and cheered.

The Pope heard from six families coming from as far away as Jordan to as close as New York about their joys and struggles. In the end, Pope Francis – deeply moved by the stories of commitment to family – scrapped his prepared remarks and spoke as a pastor in defense of families. He advised couples to turn to grandparents for wisdom and each other. And, like a gentle uncle, advised couples never to end the day angry, but instead settle their disagreements in peace.

Actor Mark Wahlberg hosted The Festival of Families. Grammy Award winner Aretha Franklin performed for the Pope, along with the band “The Fray.” Wahlberg, Franklin, and The Fray joined a lineup that includes Andrea Bocelli, Juanes and The Philadelphia Orchestra. Former Philadelphia Eagle Herb Lusk read from Luke 15 to share the story of the Prodigal Son with the audience. Comedian and author Jim Gaffigan also performed earlier in the evening.

This was one of Pope Francis’ several public events Saturday. Earlier, he celebrated mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul and delivered a speech at Independence Hall. As he blessed the assembly – which included thousands watching on screens down the Parkway – the Pope quipped “see you tomorrow.”  [philadelphia.cbslocal.com]

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Festival of Families will be held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Saturday evening. It’s a celebration of faith, community and family with Pope Francis, and Mark Wahlberg will serve as host.

Hectic fanfare outside the Kimmel Center as Mark Wahlberg popped inside to greet fans during a movie screening of Invincible.

Wahlberg, who played the legendary 1970’s Eagles wide receiver, Vince Papale in the movie, says there were two reasons he decided to host the Festival of Families.

“Well, family and faith is the most important thing in my life, so anything I can do to get out there,” said Wahlberg.

The father of four says he’s enjoying every moment of this event.

“I am excited to be back here in Philadelphia,” said Wahlberg.

And he has a message for those who may be suffering in this world.

“Family is the most important thing. Stay strong.”  [philadelphia.cbslocal.com]

Mark Wahlberg ‘in talks with NBA star Caron Butler to film biopic’

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has reportedly held discussions with NBA star Caron Butler about producing a film about the sportsman’s life.

The biopic would be based on Butler’s new book Tuff Juice, which details how the Sacramento Kings player grew up dealing drugs, but managed to turn his life around.

Wahlberg has publicly backed the book on social media, and according to TMZ, Butler said: “[A film is] a possibility. I’ve spent some time with Mark Wahlberg. He loved my story.”

The American actor has already worked on sports-based projects including The Fighter and HBO series Ballers.

UFC Champion Ronda Rousey is ready to film her first lead role in ‘Mile 22’. Starring alongside Mark Wahlberg, Rousey will go straight to movie shooting after she’s done with her upcoming fight with Holly Holm in Australia.

According to the Daily Mail UK, Rousey talked about being excited about her acting venture in ‘Mile 22’, especially with her as main character. Remarking how lucky she is, she reveals that right after her 15 November 2015 fight with Holm in Australia, she’ll be off filming with Mark Wahlberg. Acknowledging it as a “big step”, Rousey compared doing the lead acting role in ‘Mile 22’ is like “acting light belt to a heavyweight.”

According to Wrestling News World, ‘Mile 22’ is just one of many non-UFC projects Rousey has in line. She will also be playing the lead in the ‘Road House’ remake as well as her ‘My Fight/Your Fight’ biopic. The Athena Project is also part of her schedule and numerous shoots and guestings to boot. Wrestlemania 32 is might be trying to negotiate a Rousey appearance, but seems unlikely with her busy schedule and her UFC commitment.

Combat Press reported that Rousey may be transitioning to Hollywood soon, with movies like ‘Mile 22’ coming her way. In a recent podcast interview, Rousey said she wouldn’t to fight in her 30s. With the plethora of offers Rousey has, she can pick her film roles around her fighting career. So far, she has “wisdom to choose projects” that are with established Hollywood actors. Making films with actors like Mark Wahlberg, Vin Diesel is a guaranteed way to be a box office presence.

While Ronda Rousey’s retirement is not too near, it is clear that she will be entertaining the idea of Hollywood once she does retire. ‘Mile 22’ may just be the first step to this transition, and she has a strong actor companion in Mark Wahlberg. The film is slated for a 2016 release, with no specific date named yet.

As reported by franchiseherald.com, the creator of the hit HBO series “Entourage” Doug Ellin has confirmed plans for a sequel to the show’s first feature film.

The writer, director and creator of the series said “I don’t have any thoughts on what it is yet, but the plan is to do another one.”

He then adds how a sequel could fit into the show’s lead character Vincent Chase’s story arc. “That’s how life is. Everything seems great,” Ellin said. “That’s especially how Hollywood is. Everything seems great, then it goes to s***,” Ellin said.

Despite the negative feedback the film faced as reported by uproxx.com, Ellin strongly defended the film. “Talk to real people instead of little, bitter guys sitting on their Twitter accounts,” Ellin said.

Based on an interview on latimes.com, the creator said this against the criticisms “It’s really silly and really stupid. I will never understand it. The truth is, I’ll stand up in front of anybody and say this is a smart show that really shows this town how it is.”

“If you talk to real guys, guys like NBA star LeBron James, or Home Improvement’s Richard Karn, or Kurt Rambis, and not some dork writing brony fiction on his Apple Watch, they’ll say that Entourage is actually a thorough non-fictional account of their life and will try to sue me for money,” Ellin stated.

“Sting cornered me at our last tantric sex picnic demanding to know why I’d changed Turtle’s name from Robbo the Welshman, that’s how f*cking accurate my sh*t is,” the writer and director added.

The biggest news is Ellin’s confirmation of executive producer Mark Wahlberg’s approval for a sequel. Ellin said “I took a year. I didn’t know if there was really an appetite for it.”

“But Mark told me, ‘If you write this script, I guarantee I’ll get it made,'” concluded Ellin.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials announced on Monday that actor Mark Wahlberg will serve as the host for The Festival of Families with Pope Francis on September 26 on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

It was also announced that Grammy Award winner Aretha Franklin will perform for the Pope, along with the band “The Fray.”

Officials say Marie Miller, singer and finalist in the 2014 Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Competition, has also been added as a performer.

Mark Wahlberg, Aretha Franklin, The Fray and Marie Miller join a lineup that includes Andrea Bocelli, Juanes and The Philadelphia Orchestra.

“When we first envisioned The Festival of Families, we could have never anticipated such an extraordinary line-up of talent would be part of this once-in-a-lifetime event,” said Donna Crilley Farrell, Executive Director of the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015.

“We are deeply honored to have Mark Wahlberg serve as our host and we are thrilled to have the legendary Aretha Franklin and the immensely popular band, The Fray, join us in Philadelphia for Pope Francis’ visit. Undoubtedly, their presence – with Andrea Bocelli, Juanes and The Philadelphia Orchestra –will make this evening truly unforgettable for all who attend.”

The World Meeting of Families also announced several hours of pre-programming that will take place on two stages (Eakins Oval stage and Logan Square Stage.)   Read the rest of this entry »

The star and producer also explains why he was initially hesitant to do the A&E docuseries, admitting: “Being on TV as ‘Mark Wahlberg’ was not of interest to me.”

Your initial reaction to the show concept was allegedly, “Will people really be interested in this?” What made you say yes?

Yeah, initially I didn’t want to be on television. I’m sick of being on television. Yes, I’m an actor and a producer, which is my first love, but being on TV as “Mark Wahlberg” was not of interest to me. But it was [ultimately] about promoting and building the business. And it’s been a nice thing that has brought our family closer.

People are surprised by how often you appear in the show. How do you squeeze in time amid your film schedule?

We just shot a bunch of stuff for the show down here in Louisiana where I’m filming [the Peter Berg action drama] Deepwater Horizon. So we just have to be flexible as far as where and when we shoot. If I finish early, we’ll go shoot some stuff. Whatever we can figure out.

How hands-on are you as a producer?

Very. Anything that involves me and the business, I’m very hands-on. As you’ll see in the second half of this season, I’ve gotten even more involved.

What has surprised you the most about making a reality show?

Whether it’s scripted or reality, I’ve been producing television for quite some time, so I’m [pretty] used to it. The only thing I’m not used to is [the producers] continuing to push to have more of me on [the show]. That was never the plan. Though as we work harder to promote the business, I find myself willing to do more stuff. But I’m only doing what I want to do and how I want to do it.

Mark Wahlberg has signed on to play the leading role in Partners, an original action comedy from New Line Cinema.
