Warner Bros. has set an early summer release date of May 31, 2019, for Mark Wahlberg’s sci-fi action movie “The Six Billion Dollar Man.”

Warner Bros. bought the rights to the project late last year from the Weinstein Company, which had been developing the movie with “Wild Tales” director Damian Szifron.

“The Six Billion Dollar Man” is based on the science-fiction television series “The Six Million Dollar Man,” about a former astronaut, Colonel Steve Austin, portrayed by Lee Majors. Austin’s character had superhuman strength due to bionic implants and was employed as a secret agent. The series ran for five seasons on ABC between 1973 and 1978 and was based on the Martin Caidin novel “Cyborg.”

In November, 2016, Wahlberg and Bob Weinstein made a presentation of the project to buyers at the American Film Market. Wahlberg had asserted that he was not interested in most superhero projects, adding, “I don’t care what it is, how much I’m getting paid, I’m not leaving my trailer in a cape.”

Warner Bros. made the announcement Friday. “The Six Billion Dollar Man” is the second title to land on the date after an untitled Blumhouse project.

Warner Bros. also said its romance drama “The Sun Is Also a Star” would be released two week earlier on May 17, 2019. Yara Shahidi, star of “Black-ish” and “Grown-ish,” is in negotiations to star in the movie adaptation of the bestselling YA novel for Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros., and MGM.

Additionally, the studio set the Melissa McCarthy-Tiffany Haddish mob drama “The Kitchen” for release by New Line on Sept. 20, 2019. McCarthy joined the project on Feb. 13 with “Straight Outta Compton” writer Andrea Berloff directing from her own script, in which a group of Irish mobsters sent to prison and their wives take over their jailed spouses’ organized crime operation in 1970s Hell’s Kitchen.

After over 20 years teaching audiences about the horrors of domestic violence, Fear is being remade but with the roles reversed. Time to secure that house.  There’s nothing to fear but Fear itself….well that’s not always true.

Deadline is reporting a Fear remake is coming. While still in the early stages, the film is moving forward with Straight Outta Compton co-writer Jonathan Herman penning the script. Also, the remake is said to be switching the roles up a bit, with the female character doing the stalking. Original producer Brian Grazer is returning to proud the newer version for Imagine Entertainment.

In the 1996 thriller, Resse Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg starred as the domestic violence duo. In the James Foley film, boy meets girl and, well, tries to killer everyone in her life so the two can live happily ever after. You know, those classic relationship goals. Eventually, the situation comes to a head as David (Wahlberg) tries breaking into the Walker home. If you’ve seen the film, you know how terrifying the Boogie Nights actor is in the role.

But this one’s going to be a little different — the female carries the fatal flaw. Topical in the current #METOO movement, it’ll be interesting to see the switch. While not completely original, it should be intriguing to see how far the film takes it.

The Fear remake is still very much in its infancy. We’ll bring you more on the film as it comes in. [1428elm.com]

Mark Wahlberg will star in Paramount’s “Instant Family,” an indvidual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The movie follows a couple who decide to adopt children currently in foster care, but end up with three kids who can’t be controlled. Paramount plans to start shooting next year.

“Instant Family” will be directed by “Daddy’s Home” helmer Sean Anders. Anders and John Morris wrote the film and will produce along with Wahlberg and Steve Levinson.

The Wahlberg and Will Ferrell-starrer “Daddy’s Home” was a massive hit for Paramount during the 2015 holiday season, grossing $150 million domestically and $92 million overseas. A sequel to the film, “Daddy’s Home 2,” is set to hit theaters Nov. 10.

Paramount could also use a bankable hit after a rough couple years in which would-be family friendly blockbusters like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” and “Monster Trucks” flopped.

Wahlberg is represented by WME, who packaged the comedy. Anders is represented by UTA.

Paramount Pictures has released nine new character posters for Transformers 5, ahead of its theatrical release on Wednesday, June 21. These one-sheets feature robot and human characters alike, such as the British transformer Cogman, Vivian Wembley (Laura Haddock), the beloved Autobot Bumblebee, Izzy (Isabela Moner), Jimmy (Jerrod Carmichael), Lt. Colonel William Lenox (Josh Duhamel), Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Sir Edward Burton (Anthony Hopkins) and the Transformer Hot Rod. The studio also announced today that exclusive Optimus Prime Time opening night events for Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight will be held across the U.S. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. local time at participating theaters.

Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Transformers: The Last Knight opens nationwide on June 21, 2017. While this is expected to be the final Transformers movie for director Michael Bay, and even for the beloved character Optimus Prime, the franchise is far from over. Paramount is currently prepping its Bumblebee spin-off, which recently brought on Hailee Steinfeld to star, with Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) set to direct. There are reportedly 13 other Transformers movies that have been developed through the Transformers writers room, but the studio hasn’t announced which movie will come after Bumblebee, which has been set for release on June 8, 2018.

Mark Wahlberg may be busy being a major movie star, but he’s also a dad!

On “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, Wahlberg gives a big update on his kids. The actor is more than pleased his devotion to the New England Patriots has carried over to his two sons, who have picked up the game of football.

“My oldest son plays tackle football… they’re going to both play flag football this year and play tackle this year,” Wahlberg explains. “But I am now officially the assistant coach.”

While the Hollywood A-lister can’t wait to take to the gridiron, DeGeneres is a bit more apprehensive. “Oh no, that’s not going to be good for anybody,” she quips. “I can see that you would get very worked up.” “My wife had the same reaction,” the “Transformers” star replies.
