Less than a year ago, Mark Wahlberg turned heads in neighborhoods all over the Boston area while filming scenes for Patriots Day. According to open casting calls and a report by The Boston Globe, Marky Mark will be back in Boston for work very soon.

A casting notice posted on Project Casting for Daddy’s Home 2, the sequel to the hit film starring Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, says filming will take place in Boston from March 20 to May 26. The listing says that filmmakers are looking for identical twins and triplets to play the children of Ferrell and Linda Cardellini in the film.

Along with Wahlberg, Ferrell, and Cardellini, Daddy’s Home 2 will feature Mel Gibson and John Lithgow as the fathers of Wahlberg and Ferrell, respectively, according to Deadline.

“Daddy’s Home 2” will debut in theaters on November 10, 2017. The follow-up to the 2015 hit will bring back Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as warring fathers. It is also rumored to add John Lithgow and Mel Gibson to the mix. Sean Anders, the director of the first film, will return behind the camera.

“Daddy’s Home 2” will head off against “The Star,” a Sony animated offering, and “Red Sparrow,” a Fox thriller from Francis Lawrence, the director of several “Hunger Games” films. It will also be up against the second weekend of “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Bad Moms Christmas,” two highly-anticipated sequels. It’s a highly competitive time of year, as studios are angling to get their films into multiplexes in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The first “Daddy’s Home” grossed $240.4 million globally despite being released in the shadow of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The combination of a Ferrell and Wahlberg has been potent commercially — the pair also headlined “The Other Guys,” a 2010 hit.

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures and Gary Sanchez Productions have set a sequel to Daddy’s Home, the crowd-pleasing comedy which opened last Christmas and turned in a $240 million worldwide gross. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg have signed to reprise their mismatched buddy characters. Sean Anders and John Morris are also returning to write the script and Anders to direct. The studio is keeping the logline under wraps.

No word on a reprise for the rest of the original cast that included Hannibal Buress, Linda Cardellini and Thomas Haden Church. The picture became the highest offshore gross of any picture Ferrell has made.

Ferrell, Anders and Morris are repped by UTA and Mosaic. Wahlberg is with WME and Leverage.
