Scary good! While It continues to scare moviegoers, Donnie Wahlberg told Us Weekly he found some comic relief in the film thanks to several New Kids on the Block references. Watch the video above!

Wahlberg, 48, revealed that he caught the movie with his son and when NKOTB’s “Please Don’t Go Girl” song hit the screen, the two tried acting nonchalant about the whole thing.

“I looked over at him and he looked over at me and we don’t want to blow our cover either because it’s dad and son time,” Wahlberg told Us while sipping on his wife Jenny McCarthy’s newly launched ready-to-serve vodka cocktail, Blondies. “We are trying to be low-key. I don’t want to embarrass him, and fortunately no one heckled the New Kids stuff.”

Turns out Wahlberg’s son wasn’t embarrassed at all. In fact, he thought it was pretty cool.

(NEW YORK) — Actor and recording artist Donnie Wahlberg has three hits on his hands at the moment. The seventh season premiere of Blue Bloods hits the small screen on September 23rd on CBS, and his other family business — the burger franchise Wahlburgers, that is, not Hollywood — is booming, too, and has spawned a popular A&E reality show of the same name to boot.

“Vegas is the 11th location,” Donnie tells ABC News of the punnily-named burger joint owned by he, his chef sibling Paul, and their Transformers series star brother Mark. “There will be 15 by the end of the year, open,” Donnie adds, “and I think there’ll be another hundred within two years.”

The New Kids on the Block performer says Blue Bloods is, “another incarnation for me,” adding, “for years…when people saw me in the street, they’d say, ‘Oh! My sister loved you!’ Now it’s every day — I can’t really go an hour without somebody saying, ‘We love Blue Bloods,’ or ‘the family dinner [scenes]’ or ‘we watch it together as a family.’”

The series has been very popular for some time now, the actor beams, adding, “but now that it’s gone into syndication, it’s just gone to another level.”

Wahlberg adds that the seventh season finds his Detective Danny Reagan, “In hot water again…because he’s sort of an old school cop in a world where those ways don’t really work — and while they may be effective in getting the bad guy, they also, you know, walk the line — and sometimes cross the line.”

Blue Bloods airs on CBS on Fridays at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Donnie Wahlberg’s success as an actor, producer and musician first began when he captured the hearts of teen girls everywhere as a founding member of the boy band New Kids on the Block. He now stars as detective and Iraq war veteran Danny Reagan in the hit CBS drama “Blue Bloods.” Wahlberg joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss why he supported former Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio and to preview the “Blue Bloods” sixth season finale.

In advance of unveiling its fall schedule at the upfronts in May, CBS Entertainment on Friday announced renewals for eleven more primetime series — a list that includes all the usual suspects among ongoing shows except “Criminal Minds.” Decisions on first-year series will be announced in the coming weeks.

The series announced to return are “Blue Bloods,” “Elementary,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Madam Secretary,” “Mom,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Scorpion,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race.”

They join the previously renewed “The Big Bang Theory” and “NCIS,” the network’s top-rated programs. Also as previously announced, “Mike & Molly,” “Person of Interest” and “The Good Wife” are ending after their current seasons wrap this spring.

None of the renewals is a real surprise, as each of the shows has played a role in the current success of CBS, which stands as primetime’s top-rated network in adults 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers. “Elementary” is the lowest-rated of the bunch, but it has been tasked with airing in the tough Sunday 10 p.m. timeslot.

The absence of “Criminal Minds” on the list shouldn’t be a cause of alarm for its fans, as the network likes to weigh all options as it pencils in its 2016-17 schedule plans. The show remains a strong performer, and its renewal for season 12 could be tied to the fate of spinoff “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” which has only aired two times.

The only other current non-rookie series that has yet to be renewed or canceled are “CSI: Cyber” and “The Odd Couple.” The former has concluded its second season, while the latter launches its sophomore season next month.

CBS will make decisions on its first-year series closer to the upfronts. At an investor conference in Florida earlier this month, CBS Corp. Leslie Moonves sounded bullish on the prospects of most of these rookies, which would mean good news for the likes of “Supergirl” and “Life in Pieces.”

CBS’ “Blue Bloods” is due to premiere for its sixth season next month, and new spoilers have cropped up giving a preview of the season to come.

With the return of “Blue Bloods” for Season 6 this September, audiences will be treated to Danny on the heels of a serial killer suspected be hunting him in turn.

Detective First Grade Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) is fresh off a case from last season that’s put his family to the test. Last season the Reagans rushed to the hospital after Danny’s wife, Linda (Amy Carlson) is shot, and Danny nabs the gang member responsible for her shooting. Turns out the gang member murdered a deputy police chief, as well.

During the premiere of Season 6, fans will see him teaming up with Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) to track down a serial killer who sends Danny a chilling message, pointing out suspect may have a personal vendetta against Detective Reagan.

Meanwhile Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan) is thinking of applying for a judgeship position, giving rise to anticipation over whether she will actually go through with the idea she’s toying with, and whether it will give rise to more conflicts of interest in the plot.

Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) finds himself in a tight spot after he is accused of corruption by a mayoral candidate, a political issue that doesn’t often appear in television crime series.

Officer Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) will find also herself facing her long-estranged father when he lands in the hospital.

“Blue Bloods” was earlier renewed for a sixth season in May after ratings went up during the Season 5 finale. It will continue to follow the lives of the Reagans, an Irish-American family of police officers working with the New York City Police Department, when it returns to its usual timeslot for Season 6 on Sept. 25.
